I have just finished knitting a pig called Belinda, and she is already on her way to Australia to live with a lovely family over there. Here she is!

Changed my mind. Think I'm going to start afresh with a new composition, something like this.

I'm going back to my Goldilocks, de-cluttering it and using the new techniques I've been using. Have my doubts about this one though.

Experimenting again

And here's a Little Red Riding Hood I've been working on using the pen, tablet and scanning in my pencil lines. I like it more than anything else I've done for ages, just need to tweak a bit more and add the big bad wolf!


I keep feeling that my final illustrations lose the freshness of my pencil sketches, so am experimenting with a pen and tablet for my next illustration (Little Red Riding Hood) and also scanning in my pencil drawings directly and working on them on the computer. Here are a couple of a little experiments. I'm kind of quite liking them.

And now I'm starting on 'The three little pigs'. I'm quite excited about my Etsy shop being nearly up and running, and have decided to knit a little pig to sell in my shop, so watch this space!

Goldilocks - first in a series!

Well, it's taken me ages but here it is, the first in my illustrated series of fairy tales. I've been settling my son into a new nursery and just haven't had any time to do anything, but now that he's settled I have great plans for an etsy shop, life drawing classes, more knitted creatures, and of course more illustrations. I just need more time!

I want to just illustrate without having to think about words and stories for a change. So, I've picked a selection of fairy tales and I'm going to do one image for each. I'm just playing around with techniques at the moment, and am using my usual combination of paint, oil pastels etc, but am also using the computer a bit more than usual to do some wood/fabric collage.
