Things have got to change

The fun bit

Seeing all of this exploratory work together has made me realise a few important things I want to change. First of all I need to work on the boys' expressions. Their faces look the same in almost all of the images. Secondly, the images feel heavy. All areas have been given the same level of attention. I want to leave some areas bare or roughly worked on, and increase the detail and intricacy of other areas, maybe introducing more photographic collage. Lastly I am going to come up with a palette of interesting colours and use them in a non realistic way. Illustrators I have been looking to for inspiration are Lydia Monks, Sam Lloyd and of course John Burningham.

Now I get to play with my characters and compositions in colour while deciding what media to use for my final illustrations!

A Good Luck Card

While making a good luck card for a very good friend of mine, I have also been experimenting a little more with my animal characters, colour and media.
